Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how House Harmony ("we", "our", or "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the House Harmony mobile application.

By using House Harmony, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Who we are

House Harmony is developed and operated by Tiago Pereira ("the developer"), an independent developer based in Portugal. You can contact us at 30tiagopereira@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect only the information that is strictly necessary to operate the app:

2.1 Account information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address (used as your login identifier)
• Display name (chosen by you)
• Profile photo URL (if you sign in with Google)
• A unique user identifier generated by Firebase Authentication

2.2 App content

When you use the app, we store:

• Households you create or join, including their name and member list
• Chores you create, including titles, categories, recurrence, points, and assignees
• Chore completion history, including dates and the user who completed them
• Aggregated statistics such as total points, current streak, and completion counts

2.3 What we do NOT collect

We do not collect:

• Your location
• Your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera content
• Your IP address (beyond what Firebase requires for authentication)
• Crash reports or analytics
• Browsing history or device identifiers for advertising purposes

We do not use the app to track you across other applications or websites, and we do not show advertisements.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Authenticate you and keep your account secure
• Sync your chores, household, and statistics across your devices
• Allow members of the same household to see shared chores and completion history
• Provide the core functionality of the app

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Third-party services we use

To run the app, we rely on the following service providers (sub-processors):

These services are operated by Google and RevenueCat respectively, and are subject to their own privacy policies:

Data may be stored on servers located in the United States or European Union, depending on the provider's configuration.

5. Data sharing within a household

When you join or create a household, other members of that household can see:

• Your display name and profile photo
• Chores you create, complete, or are assigned to
• Your contribution statistics (points, completions, streaks) in the context of the household

This is the core purpose of the app — shared visibility of household tasks. If you do not want to share this information, do not join a shared household.

6. Data retention

• While your account is active, we retain your data so the app works as expected.
• When you delete your account (via the app or by emailing us), we delete your user profile, your chores, your stats, and remove you from any households within 30 days.
• Households you own are not deleted automatically when you leave; you may transfer ownership or delete the household first.
• Aggregated, non-identifiable data may be retained for operational analysis.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR in the EU and similar laws elsewhere), you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data (you can edit your profile in the app)
• Delete your account and associated data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Object to certain processing or withdraw consent

8. Children's privacy

House Harmony is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security measures provided by Google Firebase, including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted-at-rest storage, and security rules that restrict access to your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe.

10. International data transfers

If you are accessing the app from outside the country where the data is stored, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries with different data protection laws. By using the app, you consent to such transfers.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated via the app or via the email address on your account.
